Western Sydney Airport

At the site planned for the new Western Sydney Airport, a small section of TransGrid’s 330kV high voltage transmission line (known as Line 39) needed to be relocated. This was a major task with severe risks, and required the installation of aerial Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) across ~14km of Line 39 to enable communication for control and monitoring of the transmission line.

Jawa Technologies was contracted by Diona to haul, test and terminate all fibre optics required; two fourway ducts, two air-blown fibre tubes, distributed temperature sensing (DTS) fibre optic cable and waterjetted 72-fibre cable, all from the northern transmission point to the southern transmission point of the site.
